  • Tax Deadline PSA: Q2 Estimated Payments Are Due TODAY If you're a freelancer, solopreneur, or small business owner, consider this your official final reminder: Your Q2 federal estimated tax payments are due today, June 15th. When you are your own boss, the IRS expects you to pay your taxes as you earn your income throughout the year, rather than waiting for a lump-sum bill next April. Missing this deadline doesn't just push back your paperwork, it can also trigger unnecessary underpayment penalties and interest charges from the IRS. Before you submit your payment today, don't forget to double-check your state deadlines. While some states align perfectly with the June 15th timeline, others operate on different schedules. Quick action checklist for this afternoon: - Estimate your annual total household income, including your self-employed profit - Apply your estimated tax rate, based on your individual filing status - Submit your payments (federal and state) If you’re tired of the quarterly scramble, guessing your numbers, or worrying about compliance penalties, you don't have to manage it alone. At Collective, we take the guesswork out of the back-office by handling your bookkeeping, payroll, and quarterly tax calculations. Keep your hard-earned money and your peace of mind. Explore how we can streamline your business tax strategy at Collective.com.

  • 29.8 million Americans are running businesses solo, generating $1.7 trillion in revenue. But the headline numbers aren't even the most interesting part. A few things from the data that stuck with us: - 77% of solopreneurs are profitable in their first year - AI-enabled solopreneurs are earning 25–47% more than those who aren't using it - A full solo tech stack now costs 95–98% less than traditional staffing for the same functions - Self-employed taxpayers claim 40% fewer deductions than they're entitled to And you can imagine that last one is the one that keeps us up at night. The infrastructure to run a serious one-person business has never been more accessible. But most solopreneurs are still navigating taxes and structure completely on their own, and overpaying for it. We put together a full breakdown of the 2026 solopreneur data, what it actually means, and what the people building real businesses-of-one are doing differently.

  • Most solopreneurs start as a sole prop without even thinking about it. There's no hassle, paperwork or fees. It is just you and your hustle, which honestly can sometimes make sense when you're just getting started. But here's what that default structure actually looks like: Sole Proprietorship - No separation between you and your business - Personal assets (your car, your savings, your house) are on the line if something goes wrong - Self-employment tax hits your full net income LLC - Creates a legal wall between you and your business - Liability protection if a client sues or a contract goes sideways - Same self-employment tax  - Plus you'll have more credibility with banks and partners and look more professional to clients The big myth is that LLCs are complicated or only for "real" businesses. But if you're billing clients, signing contracts, or investing in equipment and infrastructure, that is a real business. And if you've already got an LLC, there's a chance an S Corp election could cut your tax bill. (That's a whole other conversation, but we love having it.) What structure are you running your business under right now?

  • We're excited to share that Collective has been named to Inc. Magazine's 2026 Best Workplaces list 🎉 This recognition is especially meaningful because it's based on employee survey results and reflects the culture we've worked hard to build together. Inc. specifically highlighted our approach to workplace flexibility, wellness programs, and ongoing feedback. Those distinctions are rooted in a culture of ownership and accountability, where people consistently show up for one another and our members. And we're just getting started 🚀 As we continue to grow, we're hiring across several teams and would love to meet talented people who are excited to help make business more personal for self-employed entrepreneurs. • When animator Luke Stone started his company, Studio Tahluk, he was driven by a pure love for the creative puzzle. As he puts it: "I would much prefer to draw in a duct-taped tree fort of my own design than clock in to a big studio with all the amenities in the world." He knew how to animate, but like many creative solopreneurs, the rest was a steep learning curve. He started his LLC without knowing how to register it, file taxes, or manage expenses. As the studio grew, so did the operational complexity. Eventually, trying to push through the back-office admin alone stopped being a viable strategy. It was draining the very thing he needed to scale: his creative bandwidth. By partnering with Collective to handle his accounting, payroll, and S-Corp tax structure, Luke got his time back. The craft didn’t change but the room to pursue it did. Today, Studio Tahluk has an award-winning short film on the festival circuit, an upcoming merch collaboration, and an original video game in active development. You don't have to build your business alone to build it from the ground up. Read Luke's full story below! https://lnkd.in/e5xqwpqD

  • The best part of our week is this- reading about the real-world impact Collective is having on our members. Our team reads every single review that comes in. We celebrate the glowing ones, learn from the constructive ones, and if we can keep it real, we rebuild from the experiences that didn't meet our standards. But today, we're sharing a few recent highlights that put a massive smile on our faces. When you're running a business of one, you aren't just the CEO- you're the accountant, HR department, and the janitor. It's a lot. That's why feedback like this from our members makes our day. To the thousands of businesses who trust Collective: thank you for letting us handle the heavy lifting so you can focus on building what you started.

  • There's something that happens when you meet your members in person that a Zoom call can't replicate. We connected with the Collective community in Austin last week and got to sit down with some of the incredible solopreneurs who trust us with their back offices every day. Hearing their stories firsthand, seeing the businesses they've built, and watching them connect with each other was an amazing reminder of why we do what we do. Solopreneurship can feel isolating, but it doesn't have to be. Community is part of the job too. More of this 🤍
