Apps on Databricks Marketplace are now in Public Preview. This is a new way for organizations to discover, deploy, and use data and AI applications. Instead of moving data to an application, the application comes to the data. Organizations can now install and run third-party apps directly inside their Databricks workspaces, where applications operate within secure, governed environments. For providers, Apps on Marketplace create a new way to securely distribute and monetize data and AI applications across thousands of Databricks customers worldwide. https://lnkd.in/g2A3Pehh

"Ali Ghodsi wants to rebuild the stack itself," writes Victor Dey for Forbes. For 40 years, every data stack has carried the same split: one set of systems to run the business, another to analyze it. The real bottleneck for agentic AI isn't model intelligence. It's that divide. At #DataAISummit, we introduced LTAP (Lake Transactional/Analytical Processing): both transactional and analytical engines running on a single copy of data, in an open format. One data, zero compromises, zero copies. It's built on Lakebase, our serverless Postgres database. Across the platform, agents now create roughly 80% of databases. "Our primary user is already the agent," says Databricks co-founder and CEO Ali Ghodsi. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/g-cH4wxG

Congratulations to the winners of the #DataAISummit Apps & Agents for Good Hackathon! Over two days, participants used Lakebase, Agent Bricks, and Databricks Apps to build solutions powered by data from Virtue Foundation, tackling challenges related to healthcare access and infrastructure across India. 🥇 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲: 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸 - A Databricks App that helps non-technical data stewards, NGO analysts, and healthcare planners profile, prioritize, and review facility datasets so they can be trusted for downstream decisions. 🥈 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲: 𝗔𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘂𝘀 - Turned 10,000 messy Indian healthcare records into trusted decisions for patients, planners, and hospitals, with every answer cited and each uncertainty shown. 🥉 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲: 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 - AI-powered facility search, location insights, and trust signals to help families find trusted care faster and make confident decisions. Thank you to our partners at Virtue Foundation and OpenAI for making this event possible.

For data engineers, data scientists, ML engineers, and analysts, context matters. A useful AI agent needs to understand not just the code, but the data it depends on, the assets it may affect, and the environment where it will run. That’s why we built Genie Code. With Genie Code, teams can bring AI-native development into the same platform they use for data engineering, analytics, machine learning, and production AI. Genie Code uses relevant notebooks, SQL queries, Lakeflow pipelines, Unity Catalog metadata, permissions, lineage, and compute as it works. And now it’s more powerful, with new features for complex, multi-threaded work. See what's new in Genie Code: https://lnkd.in/gzFgkiT2

Vibe coding is changing who can build software, but enterprise teams need more than just speed. They need context and control. At Data + AI Summit 2026, we announced three new capabilities for application development on Databricks that bring it all together: - 𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀: group-level governance, permissions and cost controls that every app inherits automatically - 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿: turn a plain-language description or screenshot into a production-ready Databricks App, grounded in your data - 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘀: a new micro VM-based runtime powering apps that start fast and scale to zero when idle, making infrequently used apps more economically viable More builders. More apps. Better governance. https://lnkd.in/gcEekEEF

As AI moves from experiments to production, governance has to cover more than models. Teams need to see how AI is used, control what agents can access, and guard against new threats. At Data + AI Summit 2026, we're introducing the Unity AI Gateway partner ecosystem. We're proud to welcome some of the most trusted names in AI security, identity, and observability: Alice (Formerly ActiveFence), CrowdStrike, HiddenLayer, Netskope, Openlayer, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, Okta, Ping Identity, Saviynt, Noma Security, Cyera and Obsidian Security Together, these partners help you govern AI consistently across providers and frameworks. https://lnkd.in/gBHEswZA

We are excited to announce the next evolution of Agent Bricks as our agent platform. Agent Bricks has expanded into a comprehensive platform for building agents with any model and any harness, accessing data anywhere, and confidently deploying and controlling agents in production. Agent Bricks provides the building blocks developers need to build impactful agents, including secure sandboxes, agent memory, token capacity, and managed infrastructure. The platform is open by design, supporting any model, any harness, and any data source. We also offer a managed version of Omnigent, our open source meta-harness, to orchestrate different harnesses. We believe the future of agents requires data and AI on a single platform, making it easier to build and operate agents in production. We can't wait to see what you build! https://lnkd.in/g4q4tsKv
