Misha is the Editor of The Conversation Australia and New Zealand. He has been a journalist for more than 25 years. He was the founding editor of The Big Issue Australia and editor of Crikey, The Reader and The Melbourne Weekly. He was a reporter at The Age and worked at the ABC where he was a TV producer on Media Watch and The 7:30 Report and an editor on The Drum.

Fron is The Conversation's Deputy Editor and leads the site's health coverage. Fron was one of The Conversation's founding editors, launching the site in March 2011, and was later its Chief of Staff. Fron previously managed the Australian Medical Association's Victorian media office and worked for BBC Magazines in London. Fron is proud of her Aboriginal heritage and lives on Dja Dja Wurrung Country in central Victoria.

Based in Perth, Michael joined The Conversation after several years as a journalist with Fairfax, The West Australian, and others. Before moving to Australia from his native UK, he was a senior news and features writer for Nature.

Prior to joining The Conversation, Amanda was a reporter and editor with The Age for 16 years, covering health, education, social policy, pop culture and the arts. She was also news and features editor for The Sunday Age, which included overseeing the paper's coverage of the 2007 federal election.

Erin joined The Conversation after working across radio, television and online media at ABC News for more than six years. In her time with the national broadcaster, she won Best New Journalist at the Tasmanian Media Awards for her multiplatform work, including video-journalism. She did everything from presenting live radio to sub-editing digital stories. Her work has also been published by Reuters, The New York Times and The Mercury. Erin's based in Hobart, Tasmania.

Adrian Beaumont is passionate about following polls and election results. He first started writing for The Conversation in 2013 as a PhD student, covering the Australian federal election that year. He has written over 420 articles about polls, Australian federal, state elections and US elections.

Phoebe Roth has been at The Conversation since 2018, including a two-year secondment to The Conversation UK's London office. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism and a masters in public health, and prior to joining The Conversation spent four years working at the Australian Jewish News.

Signe is a science journalist, editor, broadcaster, and critical thinking advocate. Prior to joining The Conversation she was the Managing Editor of ScienceAlert and before that, launch editor of SBS Science. She has an MSc degree in cognitive science and philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, and has done freelance work for various organisations, including Science in Public and the Cancer Council.

Drew is a journalist, author and researcher. His work has been widely published, including in Griffith Review, Cosmos Magazine, The Monthly and The Saturday Paper, and has been anthologised in The Best Australian Science Writing. His books include One Last Spin: the power and peril of the pokies and A Witness of Fact: the peculiar case of chief forensic pathologist Colin Manock, which was shortlisted for the 2022 Ned Kelly Award for Best True Crime. He was a 2021 Our Watch Fellow.

Sam is the cadet education editor covering early childhood, schools and higher education. Before joining The Conversation, Sam worked as a journalist at Star Weekly News Group, reporting on local issues in Melbourne’s booming west. He holds a Master of Journalism and Bachelor degrees in Arts and Music with majors in philosophy and music composition.

Before joining The Conversation, Noor worked as a regional reporter with Seven West Media and News Corp. Prior to that, she freelanced for Guardian Australia and various science magazines.

Doug Hendrie is a journalist and author. Before joining The Conversation in 2021, he worked in health reporting, wrote books, acquired a PhD which has seen little use, taught media writing to university students and freelanced for Australian and international outlets.

Suzy has more than three decades' experience as a journalist, columnist and editor, writing for publications including Good Weekend, The Age, The Guardian, Meanjin, Griffith Review and Australian Book Review. A former features editor, news editor, oped columnist and feature writer at The Age, she has taught writing at the University of Melbourne and freelanced in New York. After six years as TC Arts + Culture editor, she became founding Books + Ideas editor in 2022.

James is a former editor of the Sydney Review of Books. He has more than twenty years experience as a freelance essayist and literary critic. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, Australian Book Review, The Times Literary Supplement and Public Books. In 2014, he was awarded the Geraldine Pascall Prize for Australian Critic of the Year.

Liz Minchin is a Walkley award winning journalist and author. Before joining The Conversation in 2012, Liz was a reporter and editor at The Age and an ABC radio/online producer. As Executive Editor, she delivers training for universities, including a Pitching and Writing Masterclass. As Business Editor, she commissions on everything from workplace laws to consumer finance. In 2010, Liz co-wrote a book, 'Screw Light Bulbs': a plain English guide to climate and energy policy solutions.

Finlay Macdonald is an award-winning journalist, editor, publisher and broadcaster with 30 years’ experience in the New Zealand media. He has been editor of current affairs magazine The Listener, a publisher at Penguin Books and HarperCollins, a weekly columnist for the Sunday Star-Times, and has written and presented for television and radio. He joined The Conversation in April 2020 and became the New Zealand Senior Editor in November 2020.

Jamie brings 20 years of newsroom experience to The Conversation, including 14 years at The New Zealand Herald covering science and the environment. A four-time science reporter of the year with numerous other journalism accolades, he has reported from Antarctica and major disasters like the Whakaari eruption. Jamie has judged international science communication awards and produced policy briefs for NGOs and universities. Based in Taranaki, he specializes in climate and sustainability.

Ashlynne McGhee is an award-winning journalist and former President of the Melbourne Press Club. She's hosted programs including ABC TV News Breakfast and Australia's number one news podcast '7am'. McGhee was a long-time investigative reporter on ABC TV's 7.30 and a federal Political Reporter for the ABC.

Shivé is an award-winning journalist and video producer. He produced digital videos for SBS News for more than three years, where he was deployed both overseas and domestically. In addition to reporting in Europe and the US, he has also covered regional and rural Australia with ACM. Combining expert analysis and personal storytelling, he won the 2026 Quill Award for Innovation in Journalism shortly before joining The Conversation.

Before joining The Conversation in 2024, Isabella was a multiplatform reporter at ABC News in Hobart. She was the 2022 Tasmanian ABC News cadet and graduated from RMIT with a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) in 2021. Isabella has written and produced content across all platforms including social media, digital, video and audio.

Professor Merlin Crossley AM is Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Quality at UNSW. He studies CRISPR gene editing and blood diseases. He is an enthusiastic science communicator, Chair of The Conversation’s Editorial Board and Deputy Director of the Australian Science Media Centre. He was a Rhodes Scholar, a recipient of the NSW Premier’s Award for Medical Biological Science, and in 2021 a species of iridescent squid was named in his honour – Iridoteuthis merlini – Merlin’s butterfly bobtail squid.

Richard is a partner and Head of Commercial Litigation at Wotton + Kearney, specialising in media law and litigation. He is Chair of the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation and was Deputy Chair of the Mt Buller & Mt Stirling Resort Management Board until September 2022. He is a director of the Melbourne Press Club and Australian Friends of Asha for Slums. He is a committee member of the Law Council Media and Communications Committee.

Cameron Gough is a digital leader with experience in consulting and executive roles at RMS Cloud, Pet Circle, Envato, Australia Post, ANZ Bank, Accenture and PwC. Cameron has built and run large digital technology teams and has specialised in digital marketplaces and SaaS platforms as the founder of Digital iD, an award-winning identity platform, and in his current role as Chief Product Officer at RMS Cloud - a leading global SaaS platform in the travel industry.

Didier Pourquery is President, The Conversation France, Chairman of the Board of the Cap Sciences centre for scientific culture in Bordeaux and the former deputy editor of La Tribune, InfoMatin, and L’Expansion. He launched and headed the daily newspaper Metro in France before becoming executive director of Liberation, then deputy director for Le Monde from 2009 to 2014. He is the author of ten books dealing with the world of communication and media.

Lisa is CEO of The Conversation Media Group, responsible for strategy, funding and operations, and the IT and Product teams who serve the international group. Previously Lisa was CEO of ArtsHub, CEO of a search marketing firm, and GM online employment for Fairfax Digital. Lisa has been a Director of Vertical Networks Group and Chair of Midsumma Festival. Ed is Co-Director of the Human Technology Institute, Industry Professor – Responsible Technology at UTS, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law, chair of the NSW Gov AI Review Committee, patron of the Refugee Advice + Casework Service and fellow of the UTS Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion. He serves on the Aus Gov Service Independent Advisory Board and National Quantum Advisory Committee and was Australia’s Human Rights Commissioner and CEO of the Public Interest Advocacy Centre.

Professor Shamit Saggar CBE FAcSS is Executive Director of the Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success and Professor of Public Policy, Curtin University. He has held academic appointments at the universities of Liverpool, Queen Mary London, Sussex, UCLA, Yale and Toronto.

Susan is Professor of Media and Journalism at Griffith University, Brisbane, and was Director of the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research. She has authored books, journal articles and chapters on community and independent forms of media and journalism, and has led research projects funded by the Australian Research Council, the National Indigenous Australians Agency and UNESCO. She is on the Editorial Advisory Board for the quarterly literary journal, Griffith Review. ...

Margy joined The Conversation in 2023. She has 20 years of experience in marketing and five years of experience as a consultant in the media industry, specialising in audience growth and reader revenue. She is an alumnus of the Marketing Academy, has a Mini MBA in brand management, and a full MBA specialising in social and environmental impact from UNSW. She was previously the Marketing Director of Guardian Australia and a Board member for environmental co-operative The Bower.

Helen works with our philanthropic supporters and joins us from The Walkley Foundation where she was their development manager since 2018. She has held philanthropy, sponsorship and communications roles across the media, arts and not for profit sector including working with Anne Summers Reports online magazine and events, the Sydney Writers' Festival, City Recital Hall and the NSW Law and Justice Foundation.

Louise joined The Conversation in 2022 from the University of Queensland Press where she led the marketing and publicity team. She has two decades of experience in communications in the publishing and media including roles at Allen & Unwin, Pan Macmillan and the ABC.

Cath joined the Conversation in 2023 after over a decade in Medical Administration (in Pathology laboratories and private practice). She has enjoyed a varied career in the education and health sectors both in Australia and internationally. Cath holds a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Melbourne.

Joe co-founded CPE Capital formerly CHAMP Private Equity with investments of over $5 Billion. He is Vice Chair of Human Rights Watch, Chair of the Skrzynski Foundation, and director of The Observership Program. Previously he chaired the Sydney Opera House Trust, SBS, The National Capital Planning Authority, and the Australian Film Television and Radio School. He served on the Senate of University of Sydney and the United States Studies Centre.

Kate Torney is the Director of the Constructive Institute Asia Pacific in the Faculty of Arts at Monash University. Kate has extensive experience in the Australian media, cultural and philanthropic sectors, having spent 20 years at the ABC, including six as News Director, six years as Chief Executive of the State Library of Victoria and CEO of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.
